Pedestrians are especially vulnerable to injuries whether they are crossing a crosswalk or walking through a parking lot of a department store. Generally, pedestrians are afforded the right of way but too often, drivers either do not visualize the pedestrian or are in too much of a hurry to yield. Pennsylvania crosswalks typically have traffic-control signals that indicate when pedestrians may cross but even when an intersection doesn’t have these devices, drivers still have to yield to pedestrians. When a driver runs down a pedestrian, that driver must be held accountable.
